The South West Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH) is seeking an anchor tenant to operate at its Picton site.
A Request for Proposal is now open, with the Cook Labor Government inviting businesses and organisations to submit their proposals to establish and operate a new advanced manufacturing facility.
The Cook Labor Government has committed $55 million towards land activation and establishment of a manufacturing facility, with works now underway.
Manufacturing remains one of the South West’s largest industries contributing almost $9.9 billion to State output in the last year, along with generating around 9 per cent of regional employment.
AMTECH is set to support the continued growth of advanced manufacturing in Western Australia, along with diversifying the South West economy and opening new opportunities for the region.
The anchor tenant will work closely with the State to manufacture the parts needed to support the energy transition away from State-owned coal by 2030.
Construction will be overseen by DevelopmentWA and the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification will execute the search for an anchor tenant.
