External structures and roofing for the new multi-million dollar school at Angle Vale are now complete, with internal works well underway, marking a significant milestone in the construction of the state-of-the-art facility.
Riverbanks College B-12 – one of four new South Australian schools set to open in Term 1 next year – has risen from the ground at great speed, stirring awe and excitement amongst the community.
The build will provide world-class education facilities for up to 1675 students and has so far seen 10 contemporary learning environments erected, which will boast a 300-seat performing arts centre, gym, library hub, and early learning centre.
Air-conditioning, plumbing and electrical works are in full swing and progressing through to completion stage in almost half of the buildings. Internal linings and painting has also commenced along with oval lighting, landscaping and outside shade structures.
Premier Steven Marshall said the Government’s education build was delivering a massive jobs boost for the state.
“The construction of Riverbanks College is another key part of our record-breaking $1.3 billion education build, which is creating a jobs bonanza at a crucial time for our state’s economy,” said Premier Marshall
“We’re delivering modern, state-of-the-art education facilities across more than 100 school builds and upgrades across South Australia, which is a boost for families and a boost for jobs.
“This time next year, this brand new school will be welcoming local students for the first time. This is an exciting time for the local community who will be eagerly watching the progress of this school’s construction.”
Education Minister John Gardner said Riverbanks College B-12 will be a world class education facility for local students.
“The construction of this school will accommodate the growing number of families in Angle Vale and surrounding areas, delivering state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities for staff and students,” said Minister Gardner.
“There is a lot of excitement building around this project, particularly after we revealed the school’s name last month. Work is now underway to shape the school’s brand identity, and applications for enrolment will be open in the first half of this year.
“Our massive $1.3 billion education build has really hit the ground running this year as we deliver four new schools ready to open next year, while delivering a generational upgrade of schools across South Australia.”
Sarah Constructions Chief Executive Officer Adrian Esplin said he was thrilled to see work was on schedule to be finished for the start of term 1 in 2022.
