Bindiis will be banished and clovers will be cleared across sporting fields, cemeteries and select Parks and Reserve areas across the Kempsey Shire from Monday 27 July.
Each year our Civic Services team conduct annual weed-spraying to help manage weeds, especially bindiis and clovers, across the Macleay. This weed spraying needs to be done this time of year to ensure our public spaces are ready for the upcoming spring and summer period.
Council Managed Holiday Parks (Crescent Head, Hat Head, South West Rocks, Stuarts Point & Grassy) will also have their weed spraying undertaken at the same time, using the same chemicals, targeting the same weeds.
Key information:
- Spraying will occur between Monday 27 July and Friday 7 August, weather permitting.
- The target species are broadleaf weeds including bindiis and clovers.
- The chemical being used is Stadium Turf Selective Herbicide.
Signage will be put up in areas where spraying will take place. These areas will be closed for a short time while the spraying takes place, and staff will remain on site until the chemical dries. The fields will then reopen for normal use.
Council staff will work around community events booked in our open spaces and any burials planned in our cemeteries. No intensive spraying will take place where there is adverse weather or on weekends.
