Another Wilderness to Water guided walking tour planned for December

If you’ve missed previous Wilderness to Water tours, Bega Valley Shire Council has great news for you.

Another Wilderness to Water walking tour will be held in the Jiguma Recreation Reserve on Saturday 9 December from 10am to 1.30pm, starting at the Pambula Beach Surf Club.

Council’s Environmental Management Officer, Erin Moon said the Wilderness to Water tour series gives people the opportunity to discover the environmental and cultural significance of some of the most beautiful trails the shire has to offer.

“On the guided walk around the Jiguma Recreation Reserve, participants will explore the unique vegetation with botanist Jackie Miles, geology with Jeff Vaughan and learn about the Aboriginal cultural history of the area with Nathan Lygon,” Ms Moon said.

“At the Pambula River mouth, the midway point, we will stop for a delicious catered lunch and lunchtime talks on Pambula Landcare, ecotourism, a youth-led clean-up program, citizen science and more.

“We also have something the kids will enjoy; a rocky-shore exploration activity led by environmental educator, Lara Poupard.”

The Wilderness to Water walking tour is funded by the NSW Government’s Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program.
