Anywhere, Anytime – and even twice in 30 minutes! Speeding motorist, Bruce Highway in , QLD

Police patrolling the Bruce Highway in Central Queensland intercepted a motorist allegedly exceeding the speed limit, on one occasion by more than 60km/hr, twice within a 30 minute period.

The alleged driver, a 27-year-old Kooralbyn man received fines in excess of $2400, lost 12 demerit points, received an automatic six month license suspension and had his number plates seized by police.

It is alleged officers from the Calliope Highway Patrol detected a Holden Commodore utility travelling at 123km/h in a 100kmph zone on the Highway at Benaraby at around 9.35am on October 29.

The male driver received a traffic infringement notice for $646 and four demerit points. He was also issued an infringement for driving a defective vehicle – for a combined total of $789 in fines and five demerit points.

The second incident occurred just 30 minutes later at around 10.05 when Tannum Sands police intercepted the same vehicle, this time allegedly travelling at 164km/h in a 100kmph zone slightly north on the Bruce Highway at Calliope.

The driver received a second infringement notice, this time for $1653, lost another eight demerit points and received an automatic suspension of his driver’s license.
