Apologetic man falls through roof in Yarraville

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following an aggravated burglary in Yarraville yesterday.

Investigators have been told that a man fell through the ceiling of a home during an aggravated burglary on Francis Street just after 9am.

It is understood the two victims, who are aged in their seventies, were asleep in their bed before they heard noises coming from the roof.

Police have been told the victims believed the sounds were tiles being removed before further sounds were heard in the roof space.

It wasn’t long before a man fell through the ceiling, apologised to the victims and ran from the scene out the back door.

The offender was last seen heading towards Francis Street.

Neither of the victims were injured during the incident.

The man is described as being of medium build, aged in his 30’s, having an olive complexion.

He was wearing blue pants, white t-shirt, black beanie and glasses.

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.
