Investigators are appealing for public information after two attempted armed robberies on the states lower Hunter region.
About 12.15am today (Sunday 12 July 2026), a 30-year-old man was sat in his parked vehicle on High Street, Maitland, when he was approached by two men, who threatened him with knives and attempted to steal the vehicle.
The man was assaulted by the men before they ran away along St Andrews Street.
A short time later, the two men approached an 18-year-old man walking along Belmore Bridge, where they threatened him.
Both men were uninjured.
Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were notified and commenced investigations into the incidents.
