Appeal after motorcycle rider dies in crash near Walcha, NSW

A motorcycle rider has died following a single-vehicle crash near Walcha at the weekend.

Just after 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday 17 October 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a crash involving a blue BWM R1200 motorcycle on Cells River Road, Yarrowitch, about 80km south-east of Walcha.

The male rider died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be from Tasmania.

Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene before specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit attended and took carriage of the investigation.

As inquiries continue, investigators would like to speak with the driver of a four-wheel drive utility that had a dog on the tray travelling along Cells River Road around the time of the incident.

It is believed the driver maybe able to assist police with ongoing inquiries.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the motorcycle or utility – or who may have dashcam footage from the area – to contact Crime Stoppers.
