Appeal after public place shooting in Greenacre

An investigation is underway after several homes were damaged during a public place shooting in Sydney’s south west overnight.

Shortly before 9.30pm (Tuesday 12 July 2022), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were called to Maiden Street, Greenacre, after reports of a number of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police located damage consistent with gunshots at a property on Maiden Street and two properties on nearby Juno Parade.

A number of people were inside each of the homes at the time, however no injuries have been reported.

An extensive search of the surrounding area was conducted – with assistance from local police, PolAir, Traffic and Highway Patrol, the Dog Unit, and the Public Order and Riot Squad.

Initial investigations suggest the incident may have occurred just before 9pm in nearby Allum Park.

Crime scenes were established at each location, which are being forensically examined.

Detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident and are appealing for anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from Maiden, Tempe, Karuah or Valencia Streets between 7.30pm and 10pm is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
