Appeal after teen struck with bottle in Sydney CBD

Police are appealing for public assistance after a teenager was struck with a glass bottle in Sydney’s CBD early this morning.

About 3.45am (Sunday 12 June 2022), a 15-year-old boy was walking along Barrack Street towards York Street with friends, when he was involved in an argument with a man.

The man then approached the teen and punched him to the head, knocking him to the ground before he was struck over the head with a glass bottle.

The man left with friends and was last seen walking along King Street.

Emergency services responded and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the teen for head and facial injuries. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the assault.

As inquiries continue, police have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

The man depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 20s, of medium build, with black short hair and a beard. He is shown wearing a grey hooded jumper, black jeans and shoes and carrying a black jacket.
