Appeal for assistance: Escape lawful custody at Ipswich

Police are appealing for assistance to locate a man who escaped police custody in Ipswich this evening, Thursday April 14, following his arrest in relation to property offences.

Around 9pm, officers were transporting the man from a Roderick Street facility when he broke free and fled along Roderick street toward Ellenborough Street.

He is described as Aboriginal in appearance, 180 centimetres tall with an athletic build, black short curly hair with a rat’s tail and brown eyes with thick bushy, black eyebrows.

At the time of his escape he was handcuffed at the front, wearing a light blue shirt and blue and white light coloured shorts. He is not wearing any shoes.

The whereabouts of the man is unknown but he has connections with nearby Churchill, however may still be in the Ipswich area. He is not considered dangerous but members of the public are urged not to approach the man and contact police with any sightings or information on his whereabouts.
