Appeal for dashcam of Diamond Creek crashes

Greensborough Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a series of collisions in Diamond Creek on Thursday evening.

A black Holden VE ute was spotted by police travelling north at high speeds along the Greensborough Highway, between Grimshaw Street and Diamond Creek Road, about 8.05pm.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop.

The utility continued onto Diamond Creek Road where it collided with a Toyota station wagon at the intersection of Yan Yean Road.

The ute continued on before hitting a barrier and coming to a stop on Diamond Creek Road, which is also known by locals as The Windy Mile.

The 38-year-old male driver was trapped in the vehicle, before being freed and taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police believe it’s possible the utility may have been involved in collisions with other vehicles between 8-8.15pm in the Diamond Creek area and urge those drivers to come forward.

Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
