Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a truck driver was injured when a rock was thrown from an overpass in the state’s Murray River region.
About 9.45pm on Tuesday (16 November 2021), officers attached to Murray River Police District were notified of a group of youths on the North Street overpass at Albury after they were observed throwing rocks at vehicles travelling below.
Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the area; however, were unable to locate the youths.
A short time later, police were notified that a truck was hit by a large rock from the Fallon Street overpass, while travelling north on the Hume Highway.
The rock became lodged in the front windscreen, causing the glass to shatter.
The driver – a 27-year-old man – sustained injuries to his eyes and was taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
As part of ongoing inquiries, investigators are seeking dashcam footage from vehicles travelling on the North Street and Fallon Street overpasses, as well as the Hume Highway, between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday 16 November 2021.
