Appeal for driver to come forward at Springwood, NSW

A pedestrian has died after being hit by two vehicles in the Blue Mountains earlier today.

About 12:45pm today (Wednesday 24 February 2021), emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, Springwood, near the Long Tan Bridge (Hawkesbury Road overpass) following a report of a pedestrian hit by two vehicles.

The male pedestrian was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died before arrival to hospital.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have been informed that the pedestrian was hit by two separate vehicles travelling in an easterly direction.

The first vehicle has been described as either white or silver in colour possibly a small SUV or hatchback-style vehicle. This vehicle did not stop after the collision and the driver is being asked to come forward.

The second vehicle was a silver Toyota Corolla being driven by a 21-year-old woman. She was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

The death of the pedestrian is not being treated as suspicious.

Inquiries are continuing.
