Appeal for witnesses after man’s jaw broken in Melbourne’s CBD

Police are appealing for help from the public to identify two men following an assault on Little Collins Street in March.

A 26-year-old Footscray man was sitting in the driver’s seat of his parked car about 11.45pm on Saturday 28 March.

Two men, thought to be aged in their 20s, approached the vehicle before one of them threw alcohol from a bottle across the windscreen.

The Footscray man got out of his car to confront the pair.

A verbal argument led to the man being assaulted and transported to hospital with a broken jaw.

The two men fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The first male is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid-20s, with short brown hair, wearing a white t-shirt at the time of the assault, a black jacket, black pants and black and white runners.

The second male is perceived to be of Pacific-Islander appearance, also aged in his mid-20s, of medium build, with short brown hair, wearing a grey t-shirt, black long sleeve hoody, black pants and white runners.

Investigators have released footage and images of two men whom they believe can assist with the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with footage or information regarding the identity of the pair is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or anonymously at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
