Applications are open for the 2026 NAIDOC Week Grant Program to support events and activities that celebrate Aboriginal culture, language, history and achievements as part of NAIDOC week celebrations.A total of $40,000 in funding is available through the program, with individual grants of up to $5,000 to support events in remote and regional communities.Applications close 29 June 2026.
Applications are now open for 2026 NAIDOC Week grants, as part the Finocchiaro CLP Government’s commitments to restoring our unique Territory Lifestyle and empowering the bush.
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Steve Edgington said $40,000 in grants would help communities across the Territory come together to celebrate NAIDOC Week and commemorate its 50th anniversary.
“As part of our year of growth, certainty and security, the CLP Government is funding these grants to support events and activities that celebrate Aboriginal culture, language, history and achievements for 2026 NAIDOC week, the 50th Anniversary NAIDOC week celebrations,” Minister Edgington said.
“These grants are an important part of the CLP Government’s commitment to empowering bush communities, with the grants aimed at supporting remote and regional communities across the Northern Territory to host their own local events.”
Individual grants of up to $5,000 are available for Aboriginal corporations and businesses to support events and activities as part of the 50th Anniversary NAIDOC week celebrations. The funding is for events that can run from 5 July to 31 August.
NAIDOC Week will be observed from 5 to 12 July 2026. The national theme for this year’s NAIDOC is ’50 Years of Deadly’ recognising the 50th Anniversary of NAIDOC. The 2026 National Awards ceremony will take place in Alice Springs on 15 August. The National finalists will be announced during NAIDOC Week.
Minister Edgington said this initiative demonstrates the Government’s commitment to the Aboriginal Affairs Framework that was launched earlier this year by supporting Aboriginal cultural celebrations, strengthening community leadership, and ensuring remote communities can access resources for NAIDOC Week.
