Young Western Australians are invited to apply for the 2027-2030 term to help shape government decisions on issues that matter to young people.
Young people across Western Australia can now apply to join the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) and help influence government policy and decisions on issues affecting young people.
Expressions of Interest for the 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030 term open today on International Youth Day, highlighting the important role young people play in shaping the future of Western Australia.
MYAC is comprised of up to 12 diverse young people aged 15 to 25 who are passionate about speaking up on issues that matter to young people.
Council members provide advice to the Minister for Youth on a range of government initiatives and contribute their perspectives and lived experience to discussions that affect young people across the State.
Members will also develop leadership skills, build networks and make a meaningful contribution to their communities.
The Department of Communities (Communities) is committed to ensuring MYAC reflects the diversity of young people across Western Australia and encourages applications from all backgrounds.
This includes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, young people with disability, carers, young people from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds, LGBTIQA+ young people, and those living in regional and remote communities.
Communities and the Minister for Youth value the insights and lived experiences of young people and are committed to supporting their active involvement in decision-making.
Expressions of Interest will close on Tuesday 29 September 2026.
