Applications open for our newly created Arts, Culture and Creativity Advisory Committee

Waverley Council

Waverley Council is seeking up to eight industry professionals and others with relevant expertise and experience in the advancement of arts and culture to join our newly created Arts, Culture and Creativity Advisory Committee.

The committee will foster the ongoing development of quality, diverse and creative arts and culture in Waverley across all art forms and unites the functions of the former Waverley Public Art Committee and Arts and Culture Advisory Committee.

Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said the Council welcomes applications from practitioners and arts workers with experience across areas such as public art, design, theatre, literature, music, public programming, heritage and festivals.

“The committee will represent a mix of artists, arts workers and art forms across various disciplines to ensure Waverley Council’s arts, culture and creativity offerings continue to represent the interests and needs of our diverse community and delight audiences,” Mayor Masselos said.

The committee will support the Council in the delivery of its Arts and Culture Plan 2021-2026 which sets the long-term vision for culture in the Waverley Local Government Area and provides a roadmap for Council, the community and partners to work together towards an exciting and engaging arts and cultural life for our area.

Its members will represent the community in an advisory role to Council and provide knowledge and diverse perspectives about creative practice, arts and cultural activities and events relevant to the Waverley area and Council’s Arts and Culture Plan, Public Art Masterplan, Bondi Pavilion creative program and other key strategies, policies and guidelines.

The committee will:

  • Foster the ongoing development of quality, diverse and creative arts and culture to enhance public access and experience of the arts
  • Advise Council on the selection and development of public art works and arts programming that serve to reflect our heritage and cultural identity
  • Involve the community by informing and promoting public art and arts and culture programs.

Membership will be for a term of two years—November 2023 until October 2025—and include at least four members who live or work in Waverley.
