Architect appointed to design new primary education support centre in Baldivis

  • Oldfield Knott Architects has been appointed to design a primary education support centre for the new Pine View Primary School
  • The new facilities will be built at a cost of $2.5 million and will cater for up to 40 students with special education needs and create jobs
  • This addition is part of a commitment of $4.9 million over the next four years in the WA Recovery Plan to build and upgrade education support facilities
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced an important addition to the new Pine View Primary School (previously known as Baldivis South Primary School planning name) that will open at the start of the 2021 school year.

Oldfield Knott Architects has been selected to design an additional facility – namely a $2.5 million primary education support centre which will provide specialist education for students with disability and assist job creation during construction.

The new centre will include a new classroom block made up of three classrooms, staff rooms, therapy rooms, toilets and store rooms. A transportable classroom will also be added to cater for early childhood education support students.

With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to start in February 2021 with completion anticipated in September 2021.

The new facility will mean that local students with disability can access appropriate support.

The project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan and is expected to create an additional nine construction jobs.

Construction is almost complete at the $17 million Pine View Primary School which will officially open for the start of the 2021 school year. The new school will accommodate 450 students and ease pressure on enrolments at surrounding primary schools in Perth’s growing southern corridor.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“It is vitally important that students with disability are able to access the specialist support they need, close to home.

“Young families in the popular Baldivis area will benefit from the recently announced additional facilities at the new Pine View Primary School.”

As stated by Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby:

“The education support centre will be a very welcome addition to our local community and help serve the educational needs of our kids into the future.

“I am thrilled to see the design process underway so quickly and look forward to construction starting soon.”
