Victoria is expecting extreme weather this week, with the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall.
It’s important to be prepared in the event of a storm.
Here are some basic things you can do to get ready:
- Prepare an emergency plan – having one means you can think clearly, have a greater sense of control and make better decisions
- Download the VicEmergency app or visit emergency.vic.gov.au for current incidents and warnings
- Keep supplies in your home such as candles, torches, first-aid kits, canned food, bottled water and a radio (in case of power and telephone outages)
- Know how and where to turn off your gas, electricity and water
- Know who and when to call when faced with an emergency.
- Visit the Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) website to find your local flood guides and more information on how to prepare yourself and your home.
