With the fourth annual CapriCon Steampunk and Pop Culture Convention taking over the Showgrounds next Saturday, residents and visitors alike are being encouraged to get prepared so they can get the most out of regional Queensland’s largest single day convention.
Chair of Council’s Communities Committee, Councillor Rose Swadling, said the event was shaping up to be the best yet.
“I am just delighted with how this event has grown and developed, so much so that we now need to host it in the Showgrounds as the thousands of people who want to come can’t all fit in the Southside Library!
“This transformation means there is even more to see and do, so it’s vital that attendees take some time beforehand to get prepared so they don’t miss the amazing things on offer.
“Whether it’s star guests like Chai Hansen, Nathan Jones, Jay Laga’aia and Kate Forsyth; make up effects and writing workshops; full length cinema feature films or live music, there really is a jam packed program with something for everyone.
“The full program is on the Council’s website now. We also have an app to download which has everything you need from maps to food vendors, and even allows you to build a personalised schedule for the day with alerts to remind you when it’s time to move on to your next stop!
“This CapriCon is shaping up to be our largest ever and I’m delighted Council is able to host this event for the community. It’s free entry and promises to be a fantastic day, so make sure you don’t miss out.”

CapriCon is for all ages, providing a fun, inclusive and immersive event that people don’t just attend, they experience. In partnership with CQ Eat Fest, CapriCon 2019 will bring together out-of-this-world entertainment, delicious food, and experiences like no other event can offer in CQ.
