Ariarne Titmus announced 2019 Tasmanian Athlete of Year

Congratulations to Ariarne Titmus, who has this evening been named the 2019 Tasmanian Athlete of the Year.

Ariarne has had an outstanding season, achieving two World Titles at the World Swimming Championships – 400m and 4x200m Freestyle Relay.

She also placed second in the 200m Freestyle and third in the 800m Freestyle at the World Swimming Championships.

Ariarne won both the 200m and 400m Freestyle events at the World Short Course Championships, and placed third in both the 4x50m and 4x200m Freestyle Relays at the World Short Course Championships.

The Tasmanian Institute of Sport, along with Seven Tasmania, supports the annual Tasmanian Athlete of the Year award.

This award recognises outstanding performances at the international level, contribution to the athlete’s sport, and contribution to the Tasmanian sporting community.
