Armed burglary offences at Ipswich

Queensland Police have charged two men following an attempted armed burglary at Wulkuraka, in Ipswich yesterday, January 22.

It will be alleged that around 10.15am, a group of men armed with weapons attended an address on Grace Street and forced entry to the property through a side yard.

Nothing was taken, and the occupants of the home were not physically injured.

The group fled the scene in a stolen white Mitsubishi ASX.

Police and PolAir tracked the vehicle to a shopping centre on Creek Road, Carindale, where the vehicle was abandoned.

Officers were able to take two men into custody nearby a short time later, where they also allegedly located a firearm inside a backpack that one of the men was carrying.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with one count each of trespass, wilful damage, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess explosives, unlawful possession of a weapon.

He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court today, January 23.

A 27-year-old Coominya man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlisenced driving, obstruct police, trespass, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, wilful damage.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, January 23.

Investigations are continuing to locate a third man believed to be involved in the incident.
