Armed man arrested outside service station at Kelso, NSW

An armed man has been arrested outside a Central West service station he allegedly robbed 10 days earlier.

Police had been investigating after an employee at the business on Sydney Road, Kelso, was threatened and intimidated by a man about 5.30am Wednesday 20 May 2020.

Officers from Chifley Police District were told the man threw coffee around the store before he verbally abused the staff member.

When the employee took cover in a rear office, the man allegedly stole cigarettes and left.

An investigation was initiated, and last Thursday (28 May 2020), a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest.

Following inquiries, a 22-year-old man – allegedly holding a pair of scissors – was arrested outside the same service station about 11.15 today (Saturday 30 May 2020).

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with the arrest warrant, robbery, and carrying a cutting weapon on apprehension.

The man, from Kelso, been refused bail to appear in Dubbo Local Court by AVL tomorrow (Sunday 31 May 2020).
