Armed robbery and UUMV charges in Sunnybank, QLD

Detectives from Dutton Park and Logan have charged a 22-year-old Coopers Plains man with multiple offences after an alleged armed robbery in Sunnybank yesterday.

Around midday yesterday (August 6), police will allege the man entered a jewellery store in a shopping complex on Mains Road, Sunnybank, armed with a shotgun. It is alleged the man approached the counter and demanded items from the display cabinet, as well as cash.

The man allegedly left the store a short time later with jewellery items worth approximately $150,000 and a small amount of cash. It will be alleged he left the shopping complex in a white IZUZU utility that was being driven by another man. Police will allege the vehicle was allegedly stolen from outside a residence in Camp Hill on August 5.

Around 1.50pm police observed the vehicle travelling on Stoney Camp Road, Park Ridge. Police tracked the vehicle for a short time, where it allegedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road on multiple occasions. The car then crashed into a red Nissan Pulsar hatchback on Middle Road, Regents Park. The driver of that vehicle, a 23-year-old woman from Boronia Heights, was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

At the time of the crash it is alleged there were three people in the vehicle. One man attempted to flee the scene on foot before being taken into custody a short time later.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Coopers Plains man, was charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter premise and commit indictable offence, dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of motor vehicle and breach of bail. He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 8.

A 23-year-old man from Underwood was charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count of possess dangerous drugs. He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on October 13.

A 23-year-old Woodridge woman, who was a passenger in the alleged stolen vehicle, obtained leg injuries in the accident. She was charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count of breach of bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
