Armed robbery charges at Belgian Gardens, QLD

Police have charged a man after a take away shop was allegedly robbed at Belgian Gardens earlier tonight.

It will be alleged at 7.30pm a man entered the Bundock Street business and threatened the female staff member with a knife demanding money. The staff member complied, and the man fled the store.

A man matching the description was located by police nearby a short time later.

A 37-year-old North Ward man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of a knife in a public place.

He will appear at the Townsville Magistrates Court today, December 31.
