Arrest after car stolen from Semaphore, South Australia

A man has been arrested after breaking into a Semaphore home and stealing a car this morning.

Police will allege that about 10.45am on Friday, 16 November a BMW sedan was stolen from a house on The Esplanade.

About 20 minutes later, a patrol saw the car on Beovich Road at Ingle Farm, recognising it as the one stolen from the Semaphore house earlier today.

When police attempted to stop the car, it sped off and was pursued for several minutes, before turning into a dead-end street at Robert Avenue, Enfield and becoming wedged between two bollards.

The driver attempted to run away from police, but was arrested after he was sprayed with capsicum spray.

The 43-year-old man of Salisbury Heights will face numerous charges including serious criminal trespass, theft, illegal use and engaging in a police pursuit.

It is expected he will be refused bail to appear in court later today.
