Arrest – Aggravated Burglary – Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force have arrested a man in relation to an Aggravated Burglary in Alice Springs yesterday.

Around 5:40pm, police received a report of armed intruders at a premises on Saltwell Street, Larapinta.

A male resident confronted one of the offenders, who was armed with a machete, and during an altercation he suffered a laceration to his hand.

Two co-offenders hiding behind the fence line threw rocks at the victim attempting to facilitate the escape of the other offender.

General duties members, along with the Dog Operations Unit, attended the scene and established a cordon. A short time later a 19-year-old man was arrested.

He has since been charged with Aggravated burglary and Damage to property and remanded to appear before the Alice Springs Court tomorrow.

The victim was conveyed to hospital for assessment and treatment.

Investigations into the assault, and efforts to locate the remaining offenders, are ongoing.
