Northern Territory Police have arrested a youth after an attempted aggravated robbery in Larapinta overnight.
Around 7:20pm yesterday, police received reports a youth had attended a business on Larapinta Drive armed with a firearm, before threatening a woman and demanding cash.
The youth fled the scene when they were disturbed by another person.
Police immediately deployed to the area, reviewed the store’s CCTV and arrested a 13-year-old male a short time later. The confirmed replica firearm was located and seized.
During the arrest the offender has allegedly kicked a police officer who did not require medical treatment.
The youth remains in custody this morning.
Commander James Gray-Spence said ” This incident was swiftly contained and resolved thanks to the incredible response by Northern Territory police officers. The police officer was not injured and carried on with her shift, protecting and serving our community.
“Violence in our community and assaults on our police is disgraceful conduct and is completely unacceptable.
