Arrest at Dry Creek salt fields, South Australia

A man has been arrested after breaking into the Dry Creek redevelopment and stealing copper early this morning.

Just after 3.30am (Monday 21 January) police responded to calls from a truck driver who had located a man inside the salt fields development performing burnouts.

Three truck drivers witnessed the silver Ford Falcon doing burnouts and attempted to block him in resulting in the Ford crashing into a truck. No injuries were sustained by either party.

Police arrived on scene and located a man still in the vehicle and a search of the boot recovered about 30 meters of copper piping allegedly stolen from the nearby redevelopment.

A 24-year-old man from Evanston Gardens was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises, going equipped and theft. He is expected to be granted bail to appear in court at a later date.
