Arrest made after property offences at Bourke, NSW

Police have conducted a search warrant and arrested a man as they continue to investigate property offences in the state’s north-west.

About 1.50am on Friday 23 September 2022, two men attended a car wash on Becker Street, Cobar and allegedly attempted to remove a coin collection device without success; an hour later, two men forced entry into a hotel on Quanda Street, Hermidale, where they allegedly stole a cash register.

Officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the incidents.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 30-year-old man on Becker Street, Cobar, about 7.30pm yesterday (Friday 14 October 2022).

He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with four offences,

  • Aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence
  • Larceny
  • Face blackened and disguised with intent to commit serious indictable offence, and
  • Possess prohibited drug.

A search warrant was then executed at an address on Tudor Street, Bourke, in relation to the property offences. A number of items were seized and have been taken for further examination.

The man was bail refused to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Saturday 15 October 2022).

Inquiries into the incidents are ongoing.
