Arrest of property offender in Bracken Ridge, QLD

A wanted property offender will face court on 63 charges after police intercepted the man in Bracken Ridge yesterday with a firearm allegedly concealed in his vehicle.

Around 9.15am on February 11 the 26-year-old Brisbane man was observed leaving a Scarborough residence in a car and tracked by police to Barrett Street in Bracken Ridge.

As officers intercepted the vehicle the man allegedly fled before he was taken into custody by specialist police in the yard of a nearby residence.

Four other occupants of the vehicle were also arrested.

A search of the car resulted in police locating a shortened firearm and ammunition.

A search warrant was then executed on a residence in Scarborough where officers seized a quantity of dangerous drugs (cannabis), utensils and a large number of power tools, hand tools and equipment identified as being stolen during recent offences in the Redcliffe area.

The 26-year-man was charged by the Sunshine Coast Property Crime Task Force with 63 offences, among them being enter premises and commit indictable offence, possessing tainted property, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of a firearm.

The charges related to multiple offences across South East Queensland and the man is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning (February 12).
