The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to a stealing with violence incident that occurred in Katherine this morning.
Around 9am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a staff member at a service station on Zimin Drive had been physically assaulted by the 24-year-old after he attempted to steal items from the store.
Police attended and arrested the offender nearby in scrubland after a short foot chase. The staff member had allegedly been punched, resulting in a minor abrasion to his face, and was assessed at the scene.
The 24-year-old remains in police custody and investigations are ongoing.
