Art, exercise and laughter at Seniors Festival this week

Bayside’s Healthy Ageing Seniors Festival 2023 has begun and there are a fantastic range of events and activities for you to enjoy this week.

Get healthy and active by visiting Sandringham Croquet Club on Sunday 8 October to take part in a free lesson on croquet, which you can book here, or undertake a tai chi class with the Silver Salties at the Sandy Life Saving Club on Tuesday October 10.

Book lovers can visit Beaumaris Library for a chat with our friendly librarian and other budding book worms on Wednesday 11 October, while on Saturday you can join the Bayside U3A in celebrating the launch of their Synergy Collaborative Book Project by booking here.

Fancy a high tea? Visit Castlefield Community Centre to mix and mingle over some delicious tea and snacks on Friday October 6. Click here to guarantee your spot.

If painting is your thing, get down to Brighton Town Hall on Wednesday 11 October for an Introduction to Acrylic Painting class which you can book here.

The theme of our 2023 event is Learn. Live. Love, and we encourage you to embrace the opportunity to have some fun, connect with the community and discover new passions.

Free public transport

To assist getting people to senior events, the Victorian Government is providing all Victorian Seniors Card holders, with eight days of free transport until 8 October 2023. Simply:

  • Carry your Seniors Myki and Victoria Seniors card with you on public transport.
  • Touch on and off as usual, no charges will apply.
  • This offer is valid on all public transport in Victoria.
