Art Gallery wraps up 2019 program with Objects of Desire

Griffith Regional Art Gallery will wrap up its 2019 program with a festive celebration to launch Objects of Desire – a local arts, crafts and artisan exhibition focused on handcrafted gifts.

The Objects of Desire launch, combining the Late and Local Twilight Celebration, will take place on Thursday 5 December from 5pm.

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator Ray Wholohan said, “Objects of Desire and our Christmas Twilight Market focused on this exhibition, has become a very popular part of our annual exhibition program.”

“This year we are ramping up the coolness factor with a ‘Good Vibes’ twilight event featuring smooth beats by DJ Lady Barber, plenty of bubbly provided by our wonderful sponsors McWilliam’s Family Wines and delicious canapés and grazing platters to set the mood while visitors peruse the carefully selected artisan gifts by local artists, and quality handmade products in our gift shop.”

Manager of Griffith Regional Art Gallery, Raina Savage said, “We want to make this a fun, festive event to celebrate the achievements of 2019 and to thank the community for supporting us throughout the year. We will also be launching our 2020 Exhibition Program booklet to give our audience a sneak peek at what is in store for 2020.”

Mr Wholohan said, “Objects of Desire is geared towards the tradition of purchasing beautiful, handcrafted gifts for family, friends and loved ones during the lead up to Christmas and the holiday session.”

“To make this experience as pleasant and easy as possible, the entire Gallery will be transformed into a pop-up shop where patrons can ‘cash and carry’ their purchases, rather than waiting until the end of the exhibition to collect them.

“With so many thoughtfully and finely crafted works created by our region’s many talented crafts people, we are sure that our visitors will be able to find the perfect Christmas gift for just about anyone, at the same time as supporting local artists and small businesses,” Mr Wholohan said.

This is a free event and will be held at Griffith Regional Art Gallery on Thursday 5 December between 5 – 8pm.
