Art hunt at Stockland Rockhampton

Art Hunt at Stockland Rockhampton

Looking for a fun way to spend a day these school holidays? Head over to Stockland before Monday 20 January to join in on an art hunt presented by Stockland Rockhampton and Rockhampton Art Gallery!

Chair of Council’s Community Services Committee Councillor Rose Swadling said the art hunt is open to anyone visiting the Stockland centre.

“This art treasure hunt is an adventure for the whole family,” said Cr Swadling.

“It’s a great activity to beat the heat while keeping kids entertained.

“To participate, just pick up a Summer Art Hunt form at Stockland’s Centre Management, or head over to the Art Gallery website to find instructions on downloading your entry form.

“Once you have your entry form, call into Stockland and hunt for the seven surprising stickers we’ve hidden around the centre.

“These stickers, which are about one metre in diameter, are made up of cropped sections of photographs from our current exhibition at the Rockhampton Art Gallery, Exposed.

“Exposed is an exhibition of some of the photographs produced at the prestigious Queensland Centre for Photography between 2004 and 2014.

“We definitely recommend heading over to Rockhampton Art Gallery to see the full exhibition, however our wonderful staff have created this activity as a great way to take the arts beyond the walls of the gallery, and present art in a unique way for the community.

“Once you’ve completed the treasure hunt, submit your entry form for a chance to win a secret prize!”

Centre Manager Elysia Billingham said Stockland Rockhampton is proud to have a long-standing relationship with the Rockhampton Art Gallery.

“We have worked with the Art Gallery over the years to create fun and informative school holiday entertainment for our littlest customers, giving them a taste of some of the many great programs the Art Gallery has to offer,” said Ms Billingham.

“This year’s summer art hunt will encourage kids to explore Stockland Rockhampton using an online form to find various pieces of artwork around the centre. The user-friendly game is designed to enrich children’s creativity and awareness of the world around them while also helping them to further develop problem solving and critical thinking skills.”
