The next Central Goldfields Art Gallery Art Talk will take attendees on a journey of famed writer Agatha Christie’s work, led by Kenneth W Park, lecturer, tour leader, curator and world traveller.

Dame Agatha Christie, DBE was a celebrated English writer who achieved worldwide fame for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections – many of which were set in exotic and inspiring locations.

During her long life, Agatha Christie travelled far and wide, often drawing on her travel experiences as settings for her literary works.

Kenneth Park is an inveterate traveller making at least ten overseas trips a year and lives by the motto that “Life is a grand tour so make the most of it.”

Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Ward Councillor Grace La Vella said Kenneth is an acclaimed public speaker who delivers lectures on topics spanning a remarkable breadth of topics.

“Central Goldfields Art Gallery is thrilled to welcome Kenneth Park to deliver what promises to be an enthralling lecture at Maryborough’s beautiful art deco Paramount Theatre.”

Kenneth Park said the Art Talk will take attendees to some of the locations that inspired Agatha Christie and will reveal some surprising things about her remarkable life.

“Christie was a passionate storyteller and she loved history, art and architecture – indeed she explored ancient sites all over the Middle East and also worked with her second husband on his archaeological digs. Many of their discoveries found their way into important museum collections including the British Museum.

“Agatha Christie was an inspiration with her brilliant stories and remarkable travels – and I am trying my best to emulate her through my lectures and travels.”
