MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) is currently progressing through a transformational change strategy and creating an Integrated Service Model through an innovative Cluster leadership arrangement. The aim is to support changes which will deliver seamless care to the community, improvement in health outcomes, and access to health services and models of care which are co-designed and consumer/family/whanau centred. This key position offers a unique opportunity to join a contemporary mental health and addictions team that serves a population of 162,500, the majority of whom live in Palmerston North City. Approximately 16.5% of the population is aged over 65 years and Maori make up over 17% of the DHB’s population.

Reporting to the Operations Executive – Mental Health & Addictions, MDHB as Associate Director of Nursing – Mental Health & Addictions, you will provide professional and practice support to frontline nursing leaders and staff to support them to thrive and deliver services in an integrated way. The role supports and drives excellence in professional nursing standards of practice and the development of workforce models and innovation to maximise the role of nursing, whilst supporting systems change by working collaboratively across the organisation to help deliver better outcomes for the community.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in senior leadership roles within mental health nursing, providing vital services to the community. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and talented mental health nurse leader.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, including listening, group facilitation, report writing and public speaking skills. To help deliver improved mental health outcomes across MDHB.
