AstraZeneca’s Covid vaccine, Vaxzevria, hits two-billion dose supply milestone

AstraZeneca and its partners have released two billion doses of Vaxzevria to more than 170 countries across every continent on the planet in the last 11 months, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Approximately two-thirds of these doses have gone to low- and lower-middle-income countries, including more than 175 million doses delivered to 130 countries through the COVAX Facility.

In Australia, more than 13 million doses of Vaxzevria have been administered locally, with a further 7 million distributed to our Pacific and regional neighbours through the Australian Government’s donation program.

To date, Vaxzevria is estimated to have helped prevent 50 million COVID-19 cases globally, five million hospitalisations, and helped save more than one million lives.1
