Attempted burglary and wounding at Carrara, QLD

Police are investigating after two men were wounded during an attempted burglary at Carrara in the early house of this morning.

Around 2.00am, the occupants of an address at Meadowlake Drive awoke to noises. Upon investigation, a 23-year-old resident went outside to find a man attempting to steal his family’s blue 2017 Hyundai i30 hatchback.

His 48-year-old father also ran outside and located two other men in a red vehicle nearby.

The residents confronted the trio and attempted to prevent the man from stealing their family vehicle. An altercation ensued and the residents were assaulted with weapons.

The 23-year-old received a laceration to his neck and the 48-year-old received a laceration to his forearm and forehead.

Both men were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

All three men fled in the red 2008 Peugot 207 convertible they arrived in, which had been stolen from an address at Moray Court, Benowa, sometime between 6.00pm on Friday December 13 and 8.00am on Saturday December 14.

Investigations continue.
