Attempted murder at Woodridge, QLD

Police have charged a man over the alleged attempted murder of a woman at Woodridge today.

It will be alleged that around 10.15am, a 38-year-old woman attended a unit on Vitko Street to collect property when a 35-year-old man, who was known to her, assaulted and suffocated her, before using a knife to cause a significant laceration to her throat.

The man contacted police an hour later.

The man was arrested and transported to Logan Hospital in a stable condition where he remains under police guard.

The woman was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with significant head and facial injuries.

A 35-year-old Woodridge man has now been charged with one count of attempted murder.

He is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday, November 12).
