Attempted robbery and unlawful use of motor vehicle charges in Sunnybank, QLD

Police have charged two men following the alleged attempted robbery of a woman in Sunnybank yesterday.

It will be alleged around 1:20pm the pair were driving around the carpark of a shopping centre on Mains Road, Sunnybank in a stolen Kia.

A 34-year-old Rochedale woman was seated in another vehicle when one of the men allegedly approached and knocked on the window of the Porsche.

As the woman opened the door, the man allegedly attempted, unsuccessfully, to remove the keys from the ignition before returning to the Kia.

Police, with the assistance of Polair, located the Kia driving onto parkland at the end of Rocklea Street, Archerfield.

The men fled vehicle on foot and were arrested by police nearby.

It will be further alleged one man was in possession of a knife when apprehended.

An 18-year-old Greenbank man was charged with one count each of attempted robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police and possession of a knife in a public place.

A 19-year-old man was charged with attempted robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, common assault and enter premises with intent.

They were denied bail and are due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today.
