Auburn Service Centre statement

Department of Human Services

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic Services Australia has delivered essential services and coronavirus support measures to communities in a COVIDSafe way.

The health and safety of our staff and customers has remained a top priority and we have made changes to the way we deliver services in line with public health advice.

NSW Health has confirmed a customer who visited our Auburn Service Centre on Thursday 14 January 2021 between 3 pm and 4.15 pm has tested positive for COVID-19.

We are working closely with NSW Health as it investigates the case and to understand any staff and customer contact that may have occurred.

The Auburn Service Centre will be deep cleaned today and we expect to re-open for business as usual tomorrow (Monday 18 January 2021).

Any staff present at the Auburn Service Centre on Thursday 14 January 2021 between 3 pm and 4.15 pm will not return to work until they have tested negative for COVID-19.

As we have throughout the pandemic, we encourage our customers to do their business with us online or over the phone, where possible.

People can do most of their business using our online services. This includes reporting income, uploading documents, claiming payments or telling us about a change in their circumstances.

Customers can also call us on their main payment line for prompt assistance.

To speak to us in languages other than English, customers can call our Centrelink Multilingual Phone Service on 131 202. This line is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

To protect our staff and customers, we are ensuring all staff have the right working environment to deliver our essential services. This includes following guidance from NSW Health in terms of social distancing, good hygiene practices, increased cleaning, minimal face-to-face meetings and restructured teams.

We have strong controls including entry screening, hand sanitiser access and polycarbonate screens in face-to-face service centres.

We’ve also made masks available to all NSW staff in the workplace.
