Audiology panel tender now open

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving services, WorkCover Queensland is undertaking a review of its Audiology panel.

WorkCover’s Audiology panel tender is now open and can be accessed on the Queensland Government QTenders website (reference number: WCQ372).

Hearing tests for industrial deafness

WorkCover requires injured workers to have a hearing test for industrial deafness claims. Industrial deafness is the loss of hearing caused by exposure to excessive noise over a period of time.

The result of this hearing test is used to determine the Degree of Permanent Impairment attributable to noise-induced hearing loss sustained as a worker in Queensland.

If a worker’s hearing loss is caused by one-off exposure to excessive noise, they are treated through the statutory claims process and injured workers generally attend an audiologist referred through their treating GP.

This tender is focused on establishing a panel of Queensland-based suppliers for industrial deafness claims only; however does not exclude the referral for hearing loss claims if needed.

Tender process

The current audiology panel arrangements will end in early December 2023. To ensure a simple, streamlined process, WorkCover will select new audiology panel members through an open tender.

WorkCover will be seeking audiology providers to service across Queensland. Regional providers are strongly encouraged to apply. All required regional and metro locations are available on the QTenders website. Current panel members must reapply if they are interested in continuing to provide these services.

All necessary information, including timeframes and the selection criteria, can be found on the QTenders website.

The tender offers must be lodged by 12pm Australian Eastern Standard Time on 6 November 2023.
