Audition for Into the Woods

If you would like to be part of Rockhampton Regional Council’s 2023 musical Into the Woods, this is your chance!

Auditions will be held on 26-28 November, with 18 roles available.

One of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular works, Into the Woods comically intertwines the plots of several popular fairytales, and explores the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. Is happy ever after really ‘happy ever after’? Be careful what you wish for!

Roles include: Narrator, Cinderella, Jack, Jack’s Mother, The Baker, The Baker’s Wife, Cinderella’s Stepmother, Florinda and Lucinda (stepsisters), Little Red Riding Hood, The Witch, Cinderella’s Mother, Mysterious Man, Wolf, Rapunzel, Cinderella’s Prince, Rapunzel’s Prince and the Giant’s Wife.

All roles are named characters – there is no ensemble in this production.

Director Joy Philippi said that the show could be described as a ‘fractured fairytale.”

“Into the Woods is a sophisticated show but it has some very funny lines so we’re looking for singers with comedic ability. The show is full of truly memorable character roles to really get into,” she said.

Auditions will be held on 26-28 November. Auditionees should prepare a 2 -3 minute song (or shorter) of their own choosing but in a style that suits the role for which they are auditioning. To book an audition place, visit www.seeitlive.com.au/audition

The season will open on Friday 17 March and tickets to Into the Woods will go on sale shortly.
