Australia Day Awards 2023

Australia Day Award Winners 2022

Nominations are now open for the 2023 Australia Day Awards.

The awards celebrate achievements and contributions individuals and community groups have made to the community. Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, District Achiever of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Community Event or Project of the Year.

Chair of the Australia Day Advisory Committee, Cr Bernie Hearn said we all know someone who has made life in Benalla Rural City better in some way, especially during recent times.

“I encourage you to give some thought to the people around you, friends, workmates, students, maybe someone at your local sports club or the club itself, community events or projects,” Cr Hearn said.

“Nominate them and acknowledge the great work they do helping the community.

This is a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who give their time and effort to help make Benalla Rural City a great place to live.

The Awards are something positive to look forward to and celebrate the achievements of our community. On Australia Day we will celebrate not only the winners but all nominees.”

There are three ways to nominate a person, community group, project or event:

Nominations close Thursday 1 December 2022.
