The Colac Otway Shire Council will welcome five new Australian citizens with a special citizenship ceremony on Wednesday 26 January at the Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre (COPACC). The new citizens include those from Afghanistan, Thailand, France and the United Kingdom.

“Citizenship ceremonies are one of my favourite Council events to attend,” said Colac Otway Shire Council Mayor Kate Hanson. “It’s a joyful occasion for families and friends, as well as the recipients, who have chosen Australia as the place they want to call home.”

Citizenship represents a commitment to Australia and its people, the values we share and our common future and the ceremony is an opportunity for all Australian citizens to affirm this commitment.

“Friends, family, and all in the community are welcome to join in the celebration with a special morning tea and ceremony to celebrate our newest citizens in a COVID-safe manner,” said Mayor Hanson.
