Australian first Satellite Hospital opens to support growing Caboolture community

  • The Caboolture Satellite Hospital will open on Thursday, 3 August 2023
  • The facility will host a minor illness and injury clinic and outpatient and community health services, including oral and mental health services.
  • All seven Satellite Hospitals will be open to patients by late-2024.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk joined Caboolture locals in celebrating the opening of Australia’s first Satellite Hospital.

The Community Open Day allows local residents to have a sneak peak inside the facility, ahead of opening to patients on Thursday, 3 August.

At Caboolture, a Minor Illness and Injury Clinic will provide free urgent care options for people who don’t need to go to an emergency department.

The clinic will be open from 8am to 10pm daily, and is equipped to treat simple fractures, sprains and strains, head injuries without loss of consciousness, and a range of other urgent conditions. It also includes on site medical imaging.

Caboolture Satellite Hospital also offers outpatient and community health services including adults and children’s oral health clinics, mental health services, a sleep studies service, and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Hub including maternal and infant health care workers, perinatal wellbeing, diabetes education, child health nurse, and allied health services.

The Palaszczuk Government’s nation leading $377 million Satellite Hospital program is delivering seven facilities around the South East, providing quality urgent care closer to home.

Satellite Hospitals in Bribie Island, Eight Mile Plains, Kallangur, Redlands, Ripley and Tugun facilities will open later in 2023 and in 2024.

Anyone can attend a public hospital or satellite hospital for treatment. If you hold a Medicare card, and choose to be treated as a public patient, your acute medical treatment will be free.
