Australian foreign minister to visit Indonesia for High Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation

Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator the Hon Marise Payne

I will visit Jakarta on 20 March to attend the High Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation, hosted by the Government of Indonesia.

The dialogue is a valuable opportunity to join Indonesia, other ASEAN members and partner countries, to discuss how all members of the Indo-Pacific can better work together to promote an open, inclusive and prosperous region.

Enhancing our practical cooperation and seeking to build cohesion across the region serves to support security, stability and prosperity for all members of the Indo-Pacific.

I very much welcome Indonesia’s leadership in hosting the dialogue and its work with Southeast Asian partners to advance an ASEAN Indo-Pacific vision. ASEAN sits at the heart of the Indo-Pacific.

During my visit, I will also meet with my New Zealand counterpart, the Hon Winston Peters MP, and convey my condolences in person on the shocking terrorist attack in Christchurch last Friday.
