Australian Parents for Climate Action delighted at news the NSW Government is increasing its 2035 emissions reduction target to 70%

Australian Parents for Climate Action

Commenting on today’s announcement by the NSW Government that it has increased its emissions reduction target to 70% by 2035, Nic Seton, CEO of Australian Parents for Climate Action, said:

“This is a fantastic Christmas present for all parents concerned about their kids’ future. As parents living in NSW we are thrilled to be living in a state that takes action on climate change so seriously.

“While we would also like to see no more fossil fuel extraction in NSW, this commitment is a significant development coming so soon after the announcement of an $8.7 billion investment in critical electricity transmission in partnership with the federal government.

“Australia’s parents want all states and the federal government to make similar commitments. We want access to clean, renewable energy that lowers our bills. We want to take our kids to the beach or head out into the bush without worrying about the next extreme weather event driven by climate change, and we want to know that their safety and prosperity is being considered in every government policy or corporate decision.”
